Our Pediatric Dentist

 Dr. Timothy J. Iten

Dr. Timothy Iten enjoys people who enjoy life, and he feels that children do this the best through their optimistic outlook on the world. His belief and desire to make a difference in the lives of children was what drew him to the specialty of pediatric dentistry. Dr. Iten strongly believes that no one should be afraid of going to the dentist. By creating a positive experience early in life, he and his staff hope to instill a lasting impression that can translate into a lifetime of good, healthy, and happy smiles. Dr. Iten received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Zoology from Miami University in 1986. Graduating from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1990, Dr. Iten then spent the next two years at the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland where he completed a residency in pediatric dentistry in 1992. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association, the Ohio Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the Mansfield Dental Society. Dr. Iten also holds an oral conscious sedation permit from the state of Ohio. Dr. Iten was born and raised in Orrville, Ohio. He is married to his best friend Anna and they have three grown children: Emily, Abi, and Andrew. Dr. Iten and his family find great strength in their faith and are active in their church, Ontario Christian Fellowship. In addition, Dr. Iten loves all things baseball, especially his beloved Tribe.  He is also an avid historian and is a member of several living history organizations portraying early American history. He enjoys waterfowl hunting, is a passionate cook and traveler.

Hygienists

Heather

My name is Heather, and I am one of Dr. Iten's dental hygienists. I have been a hygienist since 2003 and have worked for Dr. Tim since 2006. I often tell the parents of our patients, “there is no parenting handbook on children's dentistry…” so the real joy I take from my work here is being able to teach parents and patients about how to best care for their smiles. The relationships I build with our patients and seeing them learn and improve their brushing skills makes coming to work so rewarding. I am privelged to make a child feel special upon leaving his or her appointment and helping to create a positive experience at the dentist office. Our staff genuinely loves children and Dr. Iten will take the time to care for all the child's needs.

My husband and I were married on a beach in Jamaica in 2009. We have a grown son Brandon and a little boy Chase. I enjoy reading with my son, traveling on adventures, playing sports, and participating in my church and local community. Sharing the importance of dental health with children combines two of my favorite things!

tiffany, pediatric dentistry

Tiffany

I graduated from The Ohio State University in 2002 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in dental hygiene, and I am a registered dental hygienist for our practice. I help our patients by cleaning their teeth, taking radiographs, providing fluoride treatments, and teaching great dental hygiene tips to both our patients and their parents. I love interacting with all the patients who come to us for treatment, and I really love to hear about what’s going on in their lives outside of the office. Our doctor is always so upbeat and energetic, and always show our patients how much he cares about them.

I am a wife and mom of three, and I love the time I get to spend with my family. When I have free time, I enjoy reading, shopping, attending my kids’ school and sporting events, and vacationing with my family. We are also very active in our church and community activities. I also devote time to continuing my dental education so that I can provide our patients the best care available.

Patient education is my favorite part of my job as a dental hygienist. I love teaching the little ones how to brush and floss, and love it even more when they leave an appointment smiling! We have a lot of fun together! I am so thankful to be part of an office full of genuine, caring people who love working with kids.

My husband, Wynn, and I have three children. Tanner lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and our twins Olivia and Mason attend Walsh University and OSU Columbus. Olivia is in the nursing program at Walsh and plays volleyball for them. Mason is attending the Fisher Business College of OSU and is majoring in marketing. We also have a dog named Nala. Life keeps us pretty busy, but I like to find time to dance and go for walks. Spending quality time with my family and friends is a must!

My patients, by far and away, are the best part of my job! I love to get to know each child personally so I can give them the individual care they deserve, and hopefully make them laugh a little, too. I understand that many kids are scared of the dentist, but I work hard to give them a positive, gentle experience. Everyone at our office is so kind; I always leave work with a smile because I’m surrounded by such wonderful, caring people.

My husband, Joe, and I have four children, Regan, Riley, Alyson, and Cooper, as well as a dog named Tyler and two cats, Ozzy and Oliver. When I’m not busy with the family, I enjoy playing tennis and golf, skiing, and swimming.

Traci

Office Manager

Being the practice’s office manager, I handle the insurance billing, accounts receivable and payable, collections, payroll, and confirming patients’ insurance benefits. I also help the office by ordering office supplies and scheduling appointments for patients. I love working with our patients’ parents to help answer any questions they have about their insurance coverage. Knowing that I help parents facilitate those beautiful smiles on their kids’ faces is the greatest reward I could ask for.

My husband Bill and I have two children - Joshua, who is stationed in Texas with the US Airforce is now married and has a son of his own, and Jonathan, who is pursuing his career and has a daughter of his own.  In my leisure time, I love to read, watch the Cleveland Indians, and spending time with my grandchildren.  Also, whenever I am able to get away, I love going on vacation with friends and family.

kim, front desk, pediatric dentistry

Kim Receptionist, Office Administrator

At Pediatric Dentistry, I am another one of the smiling faces at the front desk. I check patients out, assist with phone calls, schedule appointments, co-coordinate IV sedations with anesthesiologists, send out monthly billing statements, post insurance payments, and verify our patient’s insurance coverage. I cherish the moments when our little patients show off to me their shiny new smiles after their appointments and they then pick a toy out of our toy box. We are all grown up children in our office, so we love to keep our environment fun and energetic.

My husband, Dave, and I have been married for many years, and we have two children and one grand child. I love going out to dinner with my family, going to the beach, and traveling with Dave. Some of my other favorite actives are reading, spending time at the pool in the summer, and skiing in the winter.

Molly Receptionist

When I’m not answering phones and scheduling patients, I’m busy with data entry and filing (there’s never an end to our filing needs!). I love helping people of all ages, and it’s great when I can make our patients smile. Every day I see that our doctor and staff make a difference—they are the best! Everyone  here is all about making a great experience for each child.

My husband Jim and I have three grown children and seven grandchildren. Yoga is currently at the top of my list, but I also like to paint, play golf, and hike. I enjoy being part of a book club and a card club. Volunteering is important to me—one of the things I do is help with church meals. No matter who or where, I love to cook and feed people!

Kristan

Check-In Receptionist

I help make sure our patients' experience in our office is stress free by checking in patients for their appointments, scheduling future visits, and verifying insurance coverage. I enjoy seeing all the new patients for their very first dental visit, and watching as they grow up into young adults with healthy, beautiful smiles. Dr. Iten has such an upbeat, caring, positive attitudes that is hard not to smile from ear to ear whenever I come to work.

At home, I have two children. We spend our time watching Buckeye football and basketball as well as several other Ohio sports.

Aleesa, reception, clinical assistant, pediatric dentistry

Aleesa Receptionist, Clinical Assistant, Office Administrator

With the ability to work both up-front and in the back of the office, I have a  variety of duties to keep me busy throughout the day. As a receptionist up front I stay busy with taking payments, answering phones, scheduling patients, and updating our website. On the few days that I work in the back as a dental assistant I seat patients, write up charts, take x-rays and assist with sealants/fillings. I am very lucky that I get to work for such an upbeat and generous doctor who encourages me to continue my education.

My Husband, Doug, and I recently became parents for the first time to a beautiful little girl named Amelia.  Growing up in a large family of eight, I learned early on that I love helping others and that I have a lot of patience to do so. I am an aunt to three nephews Lincoln, Branson, and Grayson! In my free time I enjoy hiking, camping, cooking, and traveling. I am always up for an adventure.

Kathy, Receptionist

Being the newest face at check out, I bring 37 years of experience in the dental field to this wonderful practice. I assist with answering the phones, checking out, scheduling our patients, sending out text reminders, and filing charts. Pediatric dentistry is a new field for me and I am enjoying all the positive energy and dedication to our patients that is displayed here at Dr. Iten's office.

I have been married to my wonderful husband Charlie for 37 years.  We have 2 grown children, Nick and Megan, and 2 fabulous grandchildren, Lilly and Johnathan.

My Husband and I enjoy cheering for the Ohio State football team and the Cleveland Browns (win or lose). We also enjoy traveling and spending time with our extended family and friends. When I am not at work I like to dapple in painting, learning a new craft, and watching movies.

Assistants

Eileen

EFDA, Assistant

In addition to being a certified dental assistant at our practice, I am also an EFDA, so I am able to place fillings and sealants on the teeth of our little patients. In our office, we are all like big kids ourselves, so we love having as much fun as we can with our kids. Our doctor makes our office such a lively and fun environment, and they are so good and caring with our patients and their parents. I feel blessed to work for such a caring and loving practice. The best part of my job, by far, is getting that big hug from our kids at the end of their appointment!

At home, I have a son, Josh who lives in Dayton and a step-daughter, Jordyn who lives in Columbus with her husband Evan. My husband, Jeff, and I are big time dog lovers, so our house is also filled with our three four-legged children: our rescue dog, , Wrangler (French Bulldog) and our latest edition Peanut (French Bulldog) with loving memory of Hooch (Bulldog), Willy (black and tan Coonhound), and Ginger (German Shepherd). In my free time, I love snowboarding, camping, crafting, and reading. But more than anything, I love spending time with my family and friends.

I graduated from Stark State Technical College in 2017 with my EFDA license which allows me to place fillings for Dr. Iten, take X-rays, place sealants and help to calm any anxious patients. I love working with kids! They make each day brighter with their smiles, stories, and laughter! Everyone here is fun to be around and really excels at providing excellent care!

My husband Alex and I were married in August of 2019 are expecting a little girl to arrive in April, 2021. We are excited to start our family and look forward to watching our daughter grow. samantha, assistant, pediatric dentistry

Samantha Assistant

Here at Pediatric Dentistry, I am a dental assistant with my coronal polishing and sealant certificates so I assist Dr. Iten chairside during appointments and help children learn about good oral hygiene. Our doctors are such a joy to work with because they are patient with our children, and they love to fill our office with laughter. Making kids smile is the best part of my job and I love that I get to do that every day.

I am married to my best friend, Wayne, and we have two amazing little boys Mikey and Gunner. When I’m not in the office, I love to spend time with them. I also enjoy playing with my dog Hank. Some of my other favorite activities are fishing, camping, hanging around a bon fire.

tara, assistant, pediatric dentistry

Tara

Assistant

In our office, I am a dental assistant with my coronal polishing and sealant certificates so I help Dr. Iten chairside and by providing general patient care. Being able to see the smiles on the faces of our kids is awesome and it is definitely my favorite part of my job. I also love working with such a loving and thoughtful staff. Our doctor is amazing with our kids, and you can tell he really loves what he does. Even though we all connect with our patients so well, I think I have an advantage because of my height; kids sometimes think I am a kid!

At home, my wonderful husband Cyril and I have 2 boys named Beckett and Jude. We also enjoy walking with our Havanese named Tilly Cinderella and a Yorkie-Poo named LuLu. When I'm away from the office, I loving spending time with my incredible family, working out, spending money at target and cooking.

Allison

EFDA, Assistant

As a dental assistant, I help the doctors give care to our patients, especially with the tasks of coronal polishing and sealant placing. My favorite part of my job is playing and having conversations with the children. I like to make them feel welcome by becoming their friend—someone who is more than just another adult. Helping the kids to pick out their prizes is good bonding time (and being the first to play with the toys when they are delivered is a great perk!). Dr. Tim is fun, outgoing and upbeat.   My hard work doesn’t go unnoticed; each day as I head out, I am thanked. As I always say, “Teamwork makes dream work.”

When I’m not working, I love to spend time with family and my Maltipoo named Daisy. I’ve been known to binge-watch Netflix series, and I can take impressively lengthy naps!

Amber

In our office, I am a dental assistant. You will find me bringing our little patients back, taking x-rays, and assisting our dental hygienists. I love working with kids. My favorite part of my job is seeing the smiles on all the kids faces. It brings so much joy into the practice. Dr. Tim and the staff are all so kind and great to be around all day.

My husband Erick and I have been married for 9 years. We have a daughter named Ellie and a son named Brantley. We also have a spoiled yorkie named Emma. I enjoy spending my free time outdoors and with my family.

Anesha

Assistant, Receptionist

At Pediatric Dentistry you can find me assisting the doctor with cleanings, x-rays, fillings, and teaching the little ones about good oral health. If I'm not in the back assisting, you'll see me up front answering phones, scheduling and checking out patients. I love seeing the world through the kids' eyes everyday! Having them understand the dentist can be a fun and great experience, which is important to me. Not a day goes by where we aren't laughing, singing, or even dancing with the little ones.

At home I am married to my best friend, Bobby, with whom I have 6 beautiful children and 3 grandchildren! They keep us busy and we love it! When we can, my husband and I love escaping to the beach and palm trees.

I can't wait to see all your smiling faces!
